An Evening with Freddie Johnson

FREDDIE JOHNSON needs no introduction. But you will need a ticket to sip 10 WHEATED BOURBONS from BUFFALO TRACE with him at our bar on SATURDAY, AUGUST 23 for our “An Evening with Freddie Johnson” Tasting Event.

It is an honor and a privilege to welcome the inimitable FREDDIE JOHNSON to our Prohibition Bourbon Bar for an evening of great bourbon and lively storytelling.

This event will be held on Saturday, August 23, from 7:00 - 10:00 PM (doors open at 6:30PM). The Bar and Bottle Shop will remain open at the conclusion of the tasting, until 11:00PM.

For most Buffalo Trace bourbon enthusiasts, Freddie Johnson needs no introduction. As a third generation employee at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, Freddie serves as Distillery VIP Visitor Lead, and is the Distillery's most popular and highly sought after tour guide. He was inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame in 2018, and is the recipient of several industry honors and awards. To us, Freddie is our friend and forever Daddy'O.

Freddie weaves together his childhood memories with the Distillery's rich history as he entertains thousands each year in various tours around Buffalo Trace. And at the Prohibition Bourbon Bar, we expect he will do the same. Freddie will tell the story of William Larue Weller, the distilling pioneer who more than a century ago took a traditional bourbon recipe and substituted wheat where rye was normally used to create a soft, mellow spirit perfect for sipping.

Guests will enjoy a WELCOME POUR of Weller Antique Single Barrel Bourbon, followed by a POUR of Wheated White Dog Mash and a FLIGHT OF 8 WHEATED BOURBONS, featuring:

The W.L. WELLER “Something Old/Something New” Series with bottles dated roughly 10 years apart, including: W.L. Weller Special Reserve Old Squat Bottle; W.L. Weller Special Reserve Green Label; W.L. Weller Antique 107 Old Squat Bottle; W.L. Weller Antique 107 Red Label; W.L. Weller 12 Year Old Squat Bottle; W.L. Weller 12 Year Black Label. The flight will also feature PAPPY pours of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year “Pappy 10” and Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year “Pappy 12.” Salty snacks will also be provided.
