MEET THE AMIGOS!

FREDDIE JOHNSON is a legendary storyteller and a third-generation member of the Johnson family to work at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Known as one of the most popular and highly sought after tour guides in the bourbon industry, Freddie currently serves as the distillery’s Global Brand Ambassador and VIP Visitor Lead. Freddie brings more than two decades of storytelling, whiskey expertise, and authentic hospitality to audiences around the world. He was inducted into the KY Bourbon Hall of Fame in 2018, the Whisky Magazine Hall of Fame in 2024, and is the recipient of several industry honors and awards. Buffalo Trace launched a line of sodas in his honor in 2019, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the restoration of the historic Green Hills Cemetery. Freddie gained widespread fame for his heartfelt storytelling and wisdom in the bourbon documentary “Neat: The Story of Bourbon.”

BERNIE LUBBERS is a prominent figure in the American Whiskey industry, currently serving as the Whiskey Ambassador Emeritus for Heaven Hill Brands. Widely known as “The Whiskey Professor,” Lubbers is celebrated for his deep knowledge of bourbon history and his passionate advocacy for the Bottled-in-Bond category. He authored the book Bourbon Whiskey: Our Native Spirit and hosts the website WhiskeyProf.com. A former stand-up comedian, Lubbers often combines storytelling and music in his presentations, such as his wildly popular “Bourbon Through Bluegrass” tasting event he headlines. Bernie joined Heaven Hill in 2005 and served as the National Whiskey Ambassador for nearly 20 years before transitioning to the role of Ambassador Emeritus last year. He has been named Global Whiskey Ambassador of the Year by Whisky Magazine three times, and in 2024, was inducted into the Order of the Writ, an elite society celebrating Kentucky Bourbon heritage.

STEPHEN FANTE is the award-winning Global Brand Ambassador and Executive Bourbon Steward for Limestone Branch Distillery, located in Lebanon, Kentucky. Limestone was founded by seventh-generation distiller, Stephen Beam, and is home to famous brands like Yellowstone Bourbon. Fante joined the distillery in 2013 and is known for high-energy tours, deep knowledge of the Beam family history, and managing the Yellowstone bourbon barrel programs. Fante is a prominent figure in the Kentucky bourbon industry, where he is featured in tours, barrel picks and educational sessions sharing the history of the Beam family’s distilling legacy dating back to the 1800s. When he is not on the distillery grounds, Fante can often be found preaching the word of Kentucky’s native spirit to bar staff, liquor stores, distributors and bourbon groups, and hanging out with his dog Louis.
